Re: The Map of Ara'niel
Nothing official but we've had have previous discussions about the chain of islands north of the mainland being tropical so I imagine the equator would be around there.

Oh, wow, so the world is a LOT bigger than this continent. At bare minimum, even if the continent is wide enough to wrap around the world, there's still 50% of the globe undefined.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
Okay, so I think we should make a decision on how large the world is. We have one "southern continent" (that's what the history of humankind article described it as) mapped, there's been note that the island chains on the northern part of the map are tropical, so the equator is probably there-ish, and we know that the northernmost landmass was the contintent that blew up after the tillbury incident. So we know that at least within the scope of however many degrees longitude this map is wide that there's not much in the way of land to the north of our map.
However, as I said we don't know the width of the map relative to the size of the planet. So for simplicity's sake either 180 degrees or 360 degrees of the full planetary longitude should be the width of that map (imo), depending on if we want to leave room for another side of the planet to fully flesh out or if we want to stick with the continent and history we've already got and not complicate the world too much further in that regard.
Would this thread be the place to decide that kind of thing, or is there another location/do we need a new separate thread for this kind of discussion?

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
RoKK likely consists of more continents but right now our focus is on Aran'niel.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
Post whatever suggestions you have about the world in the R&D section. Once we figure out what we want, then we can move it into the canon sections of the site, like this one.

Ah, gotcha. I shall modify my posting patterns accordingly.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
It's not that big of a deal, it's just that with questions or discussions like this that don't specifically deal with the map, but rather the planet, that sort of stuff should go into R&D.
Defining the rest of the planet is something we haven't bothered too much with, especially since we don't have either of our mappers around very often. If you have some suggestions about the maps, then post here. If you have suggestions about the world itself, post in R&D. Is the distinction clear enough? I understand that it's a bit hazy, but I just wanted to clarify it.

Nope, totally got the distinction.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
Newly more up-to-date. Fonts are not finalized, and borders might not look exactly the same, because I might have failed to save the easily editable version, and so might have to re-do it. Re-picking a font will also be necessary, as I have forgotten what I originally used. Consider this a hack-job placeholder for now.

Sweet. Missing Tryvold is the only thing left before it's basically fully updated. I like.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
I like it...kinda needs the boarders of the individual states of Tyrvold (Which I've started spelling with an r after the y to make it sound cooler), but other then that nice job Tuv.

Then MS-Paint them in, or describe it, and I will do so at earliest convenience.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
Kirath and Visnia's borders are the river inbetween them. By the map is sort of looks weird. Is there a way you could fill it in closer?
Also, Eulmarch's borders slightly wrap around the southern bit of the Wailing Mountains, and there's a fortress there.
There is also a fortress between Eulmarch and Visnia on the border. My map should show where it is accurately. I didn't give Kirath a capital because it's not sovereign, but I suppose it needs one anyway. Please put one at the mouth of the river.
I'll be uploading a map of claimed territory soon.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
So the current to do stuff for mapping:
Rename Tryvold to Tyrvold
Clean up the Tyrvoldian inter-borders (I suggest dotted lines)
Possible Renaming of Imperator? Crom keeps saying Impereich, so Idk...
Khalizimoth is fine (That's the name of the capital province, actually), but I need to add in the locations of cities and such (Though I think I already did...)
Fix Kirath's and Visnia's borders so they aren't so strange looking
Fix Eulmarch's borders to slightly wrap around the bottom of the Wailing Mountains and put a fortress on that southern peak and on the border of Eulmarch and Visnia
Put a small capital star at the mouth of the river in Kirath
Label the Conclave
Remove Almeoth-Mardeo
Remove the river in Imperator roughly where it splits into two small little juts and continues on (the bit towards the center of Imperator, a good bit east of the capital) and all the way to the Aldish States.
Did I miss anything?
After the next new version, I'll update the OP with the new maps.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
Changed to Impereich
Take the westernmost city in the Impereich northeast directly above the capital nestled by the black mountains.
Add in Demonreach (just an idea name for the mists). -Pending Approval-
Add Ceruth. -Pending Approval-

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
I question why the river is being removed (as the Aldish States climate was made knowing it exists just a bit upriver of where a river bursts forth)
I also question Crom's choice of names.
Demonreach? I know you read The Dresden Files sirrah.

Re: The Map of Ara'niel
But of course. I actually read Ghost Story this weekend. Good eye sir. And it's being gotten rid of so we may have a suitable wasteland for bandits to thrive on Aldish trade caravans. Thought if you want we can always make a small river in order to supplement your climate.

Move the Capital of Eadhalion to where the second most northern city currently is.
